Inner World of Tectonic Shifts, 2021
Inner World of Tectonic Shifts captures Sarah Trigg’s bold move into pure abstraction, offering a visceral, tactile experience rooted in the forces of nature.
In this striking work, layered pumice and acrylic mimic the raw motion of earth; lava flows, shifting tides, cracking surfaces; held in a delicate, suspended tension. Emerging from a period of transition, the painting radiates both intensity and stillness, inviting viewers into a world shaped by unseen, elemental power.

"Inner World of Tectonic Shifts (2021) emerged during a transitional period following my series Daily Markings on the Face of the Earth, which paired surreal narratives with media-reported landscape events; one painting per calendar day. After years of photo-based research, my work evolved into full abstraction. The marks now echo geological movements, lava flows, shifting tides, cracking surfaces, held in a state of suspended motion and layered gravitational tension."

CURATOR´S NOTE
There’s a quiet force in Inner World of Tectonic Shifts that stays with you. Sarah Trigg channels something deeply felt: an inner terrain shaped not by the visible world, but by what stirs beneath it. The textures pull you in first: pumice, paint, weight. Then the movement reveals itself, slow, tectonic, inevitable. It’s a piece that doesn’t just depict change; it holds it. Suspended. Tense. Beautifully unresolved. Standing in front of it feels like listening to the earth breathe.
